Porcupine is...

Casey Virock (guitar, singer, songwriter) has played in multiple successful Midwest bands. Most notable might be Space Bike 1994-1998. Space Bike released multiple 7” singles and a cd/ep on Zero Budget Records. They also released a split 7” single with London band ”Ligament” on UK based indie label Che’ Records. The single reached 23 on the Melody Maker UK singles chart and was played by famous British D.J. Mr. John Peel. The band had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Everclear, Frank Black, The Descendents, Babes in Toyland, The Melvins, Walt Mink, The Poster Children, Possum Dixon, aMiniature, and many other fine bands. Casey’s songwriting is inspired by Syd Barrett, Love and Rockets, Echo and The Bunnymen, Swervedriver, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. He is fond of Fender Jazzmasters and British amplification. He watches a lot of Godzilla movies.

David Reinders (bass) played bass for the group Junk Farm in the early nineties but has spent most of his musical history playing with Casey in Space Bike (see above) and Porcupine. He was also the sound engineer at the infamous club “The Warehouse” in La Crosse, WI for 10 long years. He ran a 16 track recording studio in the club for a time and recorded too many bands. He somehow managed to become the drum tech for artist “Eagle Eye Cherry” for his tour of Brazil in 1997 though this still perplexes him. He currently favors a 72’ Fender P-bass and Sunn solid-state amps. He enjoys sushi and red wine but not at the same time.

Jeffrey Bahr (drums, backing vocals) has been the drummer and backing vocalist for many fine Midwest bands. Most notably is Remover (2000-2002). Hailing from Minneapolis, they released the full-length “Breakdown Barrier” on Blue Worm Records and it was nominated for “Best Hard Rock Recording” by the Minnesota Music Academy in 2001.That record also sat in the “Top 10 Most Requested” of many college play lists for many weeks in 2001, one of which was KCSU (Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO) for 16 weeks! Jeff is also involved in an ongoing recording project with Wade Chandler of Chandler Limited (super fantastic recording gear). Jeff favors sparkly old Ludwig drums, Zildjian cymbals and Vic Firth drumsticks. He also enjoys listening to Miles Davis and reading scary Stephen King books.

The three men of Porcupine have finished recording their first full length record that they are prepared to sell at every show from now until forever. "The Trouble With You" is being released on Blue Worm Records - Minneapolis, MN and will also be available through iTunes and CD Baby in the near future for those tech savvy listeners out there. We feel very fortunate to be among some great company at Blue Worm Records. Porcupine plays around the Midwest as much as their crappy jobs will allow and enjoy playing live very much. Thank You.
